What is Emergency Management?
Emergency Management is the process of helping a community prepare for, respond to, recover from, and reduce the impacts of disasters and emergencies.
Whether the threat is severe weather, hazardous materials, public health emergencies, infrastructure failures, or other unexpected events, Emergency Management works behind the scenes to coordinate planning, resources, and partnerships that help keep people safe.
What We Do:
Preparedness
We help our community get ready for emergencies through planning, training, exercises, and public education.
Mitigation
We identify risks and support projects that reduce the impact of future disasters before they occur.
Response
During emergencies, we coordinate information, resources, and support for first responders, government agencies, and community partners.
Recovery
After a disaster, we work with local, state, federal, nonprofit, and private-sector partners to help the community recover and rebuild.
Emergency Management Is a Team Effort
Emergency Management is not a response agency by itself. Instead, it brings together public safety agencies, government departments, schools, healthcare providers, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and residents to build a safer and more resilient community.
When disasters occur, no single organization can do it alone. Emergency Management helps ensure everyone works together effectively.
